Organizing My World

I think I’ve had three or four various blog sites over the years, and none have really ever stuck. This one was changed so that I was no longer was associated with an old short story site that was no longer in use. It also gives me the free ability to attach it to my website later on.

As for my career in writing I have spent a lot of time doubting myself. I had thrown in the towel so to speak, and was ready to move on. That however, did not work for my mental state of mind.

Those that know me, know I participate in NaNoWriMo every year. This last November I did the same. I wrote a fifty thousand word novel that I started to edit in January. That was an eye opener for me as I’ve never seen a bigger train wreck. Nothing was salvageable, but it was great practice.

Like all things in life it served a purpose. It reminded me that I could prioritize my writing, and my family wouldn’t fall apart. Also, it showed me that I could accomplish a goal once again if I set my mind to it. I think I needed these reminders as I’d let everything else come before what I was passionate about.

Still, it took me a good portion of January to organize my world, and say it’s okay for me to want to write, and to want space of my own to write in. Now that I have all of that ready to go I found myself filling a corkboard with an outline that worked for me, and later a full plot.

Currently, I have ticked over the ten thousand mark on my new horror novel. While I still struggle to keep my writing a priority in my own thoughts, each day it gets easier. I’m looking forward to the days when I can share with you the three projects I have lined up for completion this year. First thing is first though. I need to complete the first draft of this novel.

Now, it’s time to dig into work for the day. It’s a late start sort of morning.
