As you can tell by the title up above, NaNoWriMo is approaching and it is coming fast. If you are part of the writers’ community you probably are already well aware of this factor. You’re down to the last six days of prepping for it. NaNoWriMo is sending you those emails stating ‘It’s coming. Yay.’ All while you’re freaking out going, I’m not ready. Are you feeling that pre-NaNo jitter? Yeah, me neither.
Okay, that isn’t the truth. I’m freaking out here. After I release Malevolent Mind, my brain went on vacation or something. My life steamrolled over me. It wasn’t anything traumatic or anything, but everything came at me one after another. When I thought, hey, I’m in a lull and can get back to my regularly scheduled programming my life gave an evil cackle and threw more in the way.
I won’t say everyone in the world doesn’t go through that, and I’ve seen some incredible people continue to write through it. Somehow, during all of that, though. I lost my way. Yet again.
It wasn’t a lack of time because I fought for the that. It was fear. Oh, that glorious four letter word. I find I get in my own way when it comes to fear. It tends to rule the roost. Today is for getting enough laid out that I can not worry about the technical crap as much because I’ll be running on autopilot and let real art happen.
Just in case anyone else is feeling some pre-NaNo jitters as well. I encourage you to check out Writing Excuses.
Be warned, though, it can be rather addictive. Still, great for writer breaks. Write for an hour and then listen to a podcast. As long as you return to your writing you’re good to go.
Now, off to get ready for NaNoWriMo. Until next time, remember to L.O.L. (Live it, Own it, Love it) or it isn’t worth doing.
