A lot of you will notice that once again the website is under construction. It is mostly set up, but will see a few more changes as I go along, but nothing major. I wanted a more colorful blog to reflect the fact that I am starting to write in other genres than simply horror and psychological thrillers.
I’m also learning more about how to market myself and the brand that I would like to portray to the world so the changes that are coming up will be reflecting such a thing. While it will be a gradual process I do hope not to interrupt your ability to come back here to read and check up on any progress I’m making.
As for the writing process, it is coming along phenomenally well so far and I have to admit to having a lot of fun writing this next novel. Around this time last year, Malevolent Mind was going through self-edits and beta reads at this point in time. While I will admit to being a little upset that I don’t have another going through the same process I know that it is only a matter of time before it will be. I have a pretty busy schedule of writing ahead of me and already have three new novels in the process of being ready to be written as well as this one. With any luck, this year will be one of my most productive ones yet.
I haven’t fully settled on themes for my blogging schedule other than Mondays I will be filling you in on the progress of my writing, Wednesday will probably be more of a personal blog to let you know what is going on in my life, and Fridays…well, that is the one I’m still trying to figure out.
There is a blogging theme going around for Fridays that is interesting. While it is for romance writers, I do have to admit that I am currently dipping my toes in such writing. It has been such a blast to learn a new genre to write, that I will be including a lot more of it in the future.
Growing up it was my favorite to read and well into adulthood, but somewhere along the way, I got away from reading. It really threw a wrench into my life and I am now finding myself back into a regular reading schedule. Anyway, I digress, so for the fun of it currently, I will fill this space with one of the blogging prompts.
They ask what was your favorite book to write and why?
I debated on this for a long time. There is two that rank among my top favorites to write. However, that being said I’ve learned something from each book that I’ve written. My first novel will always hold a particular favorite spot in my heart as it was the first novel that I ever finished.
It also taught me the fact that to be an author you need to have a thick skin to deal with the criticism that comes with the career at hand. So, that has been a definite learning spot. While the novel is no longer available for sale it will still remain one of my favorites. It took a lot to prove to myself that I could do this. One of the other reasons why it is a favorite is because I didn’t know all these supposed ‘rules’ so there was a freedom with the writing. While it made for a mess of a book in the long run, there was a sense of abandonment in fun with it as well.
The other book that holds a favorite is Malevolent Mind. It was the ability to prove to myself that I could still do it after almost five years of not writing. It was also my claim to myself that this was truly the career that I wanted for myself. My writing had vastly improved by this novel and I had a lot of fun. It also taught me that I tend to prefer writing psychological-based horror.
Both books have taught me things to improve upon and shown me my strengths in writing. I look forward to any new novels and what they too teach me to help me become that much better of a writer.
Now, back to working on this novel. Remember to L.O.L. (Live it, Own it, Love it) or it isn’t worth doing.
