This is the first week of Camp NaNo. I really thought I had a plan all in place. When it came to sitting down and actually working on the plan I stopped myself. Talk about winging it at the last moment. I decided I wanted to work on something I was super excited to dedicate my time to every day. So instead of continuing with my plan I quickly devised a new one and kicked out my word count for yesterday.
I have to admit that while the plan is completely different than anything that I had originally thought about doing, I wake up excited to get to work. Granted at this point of writing, I’m only on day two, so it could all change. Still, my brain is doing something it hasn’t done in a long time and churning out further works. So, now I really need to sit down and kick out today’s word count.
As a tip of advice for Camp NaNo and one you will hear recited a lot if you are participating; DO NOT edit as you go. That is the worst thing you can do for yourself. I often find I jot down a few notes either at the end of the night with where I’m heading the next session or at the beginning of the session on what I wish to write that day. That way when I actually pull up the document to work I’m not left staring at the blinking cursor.
Until next time, remember to L.O.L. (Live it, Own it, Love it) or it isn’t worth doing. Also if you’re doing Camp NaNo good luck and remember to keep going.
