Hello, Readers! Today, I welcome my special guest Cathy Brockman to the blog. She has taken part in a recent MM Anthology that is for charity. Today is the release of the said novel, so now I turn over the time to her. Please give her a warm welcome.
Hi Ya’ll! I want to thank Misty for welcoming to her lovely blog today to talk about how I got the idea for my first Romance release.
How do authors get ideas? That is different for all of us. For me, they come from different settings or a character. I’ve been working hard on a contemporary romance when a friend of mine messaged me with a great opportunity. She gave me a link to submit to an MM romance short story anthology. The theme was easy and rules simple. Write an MM romance 10k words or less. Theme__ a season, any heat level. The deadline was Jan 21.
I started a story that was set in summer. A man that was camping and taking photos of wildlife. I just wasn’t feeling it. Then one day I had a friend comment on a blog post on a topic about an ice storm that had hit our town and how a limb hit me on the shoulder barely missing my head. She said she would love seeing that in a book. TADA! The idea hit me, and my muse ran with it. Winter’s Chill was born.
I was thrilled and shocked when my story was chosen.
Here is the blurb.
It’s the Ice-storm of the century.
At least for a small town in Missouri, where Lane Jennings has returned. Luckily the decade he’d lived in North Dakota prepared him to handle it. He wanted to meet his drool-worthy neighbor ever since he saw him. Shy Lane has no idea how to approach the sexy man, now he has a chance to break the ice. Literally.
Jeffrey Nichols has never seen weather quite like this. Sure, he has seen snow on ski vacations. But in his hometown of Summerville, South Carolina sixty is cold. His mother didn’t warn him that it may snow so much when he took the job of refurbishing his grandfather’s house. Finding himself flat on his back on the ice, he thinks he has died and gone to an icy heaven when he sees the sexy angel looking down on him.
Can an ice storm thaw two frozen hearts?
