Welcome back to a wordcount Wednesday. I’ve really been working hard on the first book of the Treaty of Dragon series. I will release it in late August/early September time. The first book Dragon Bond has been lying dormant since last year and it was time I needed to pull it out, clean it up and release it, not to mention write the other six in the series.
Thanks to a clear vision of where I am going it has helped me come to terms with the amount of work that I need to get done in a day. I’ve been working hard to get there as well. It’s been a great feeling as I’ve also enjoyed the journey. To me, that means all the work I did to center myself and get on track has helped me immensely.
One thing I wanted to go over today is the why I do what I do. Most of you may know that I suffer from a string of things from PTSD, to severe anxiety, depression, and so on and so forth. While I will admit that meditating and getting my goals and life on track has severely helped my depression so it is rare to have to deal with it, I do still have spikes of anxiety caused with and without the PTSD triggers. They are fewer, but they’re not quite where I want them to be.
Now, I tell you all of this not because I want to depress you or make you feel bad for me. In fact, please don’t. We are all handed our things in life to cope with and grow from. This just happens to be mine.
As I was saying, I have turned to books time and time again to help me escape things when it grew too much for me. These books are specific worlds I’ve chosen. Ones that are so immersive that I can climb into them. It doesn’t matter how many times I read these novels they still give me a sense of excitement and I love them.
How does this pertain to my writing career?
Easy, I want to write the types of worlds that other people like myself or going through their own difficulty and climb into. I want to create a world so immersive that people will fall in love like I have.
I am working hard to create such novels as those. Not to imitate the ones that I love, but to write my own novels and just give readers a sense of being a part of it. To use my unique way of looking at the world, my love for psychology to help build incredible worlds.
So, I suppose you could say that my career is about writing immersive novels for people to escape into that I believe will give them that break from reality with incredible characters to show them the way.
Now it is time to go back to work to hit my deadlines. Remember to L.O.L. (Live it, Own it, Love it) or it isn’t worth doing.
