It is a brisk morning here. The mountains are gaining snow and we have had rain on and off for a week straight which has been needed here. Fall is my favorite time of year because it is cool and crisp. It is the time where I break out all my favorite sweaters and slipper socks to run around in.
My blue healer, Truckie, loves the season because there are plenty of leaves for him to go bounding through.
It is also the time of year when the Hubby Man’s work throws a Halloween party and I make the cake for his team. This years theme is Beetlejuice. The Hubby Man approached me once more with a cake idea already in hand so I wasn’t left floundering about.
Not to mention that my grandson’s third birthday is a little over a week away. So, this month will prove to be a busy one for myself. If I manage to push myself and truly focus, though, I still will finish this month with the completed first draft of the second book in the Treaty of Dragon Series, which is the goal.
The only month that I can see for the rest of this year that may prove to be my least productive is December, of course. All the girls in my family get together and have a baking day where we create a mass amount of goodies for our homes, work associates, and friends. It is a family tradition that goes back quite a few years, so I know that will occupy a weekend. Then there is the family party on another weekend. Hubby Man’s work party…the list goes on and on.
So, I already know to plan that month to be not as productive. While I will continue to work throughout the month, I will be okay with not setting any high goal either.
Also, I do still plan to have Opseti Guard (Treaty of Dragons #1) released before the end of the year. Upon that in November time, I do have a flash fiction Chick Lit piece coming out in a charity anthology to which I will be sharing more information about here on the blog when the time comes.
Needless to say, it has been a busy time, but I will be picking up better social media habits. I have to admit that I’ve fallen into old habits that are bad with that. While my time writing was limited, I cut a lot of things out just so I could hit my goals. Even then, I have to admit there were days when I didn’t hit them as well as I would have liked to.
Here is a list of projects and where they are at currently:
The Opseti Guard (Treaty of Dragons #1) – Beta Readers (Editing Next)
Dust Covered Christmas – Chick Lit Anthology Piece (turned in)
Poisonous Revenge (temporary WIP title)(Treaty of Dragons #2) – Draft 1 (Due Oct 30th)
As you can see I have many projects that are somewhere in the pipeline and on the way.
For once, I really am pushing to keep a steady schedule of publishing and writing. I don’t want old bad habits to creep in where it takes me three years to publish a book and I use every excuse under the moon to not write. After all, I was the queen of excuses for it. Granted things really were going on in my life, but if you truly want something…you work hard for it and you make the time to accomplish it. That is the one lesson I’ve learned in my personal life.
Until next time, remember to L.O.L. (Live it, Own it, Love it).
