A New Perspective

Hello, Readers!

This blog post was supposed to go out yesterday, but I didn’t get it completely written before I had to do some running. So, here it is for today.

I am one that I don’t like things upsetting my schedule. It is something I’m very controlled about. I have an order in which things are done and if for some reason they are not don’t in that order it upsets the way I do things and me in general.

I won’t say that this is right, but it is the way I am. It’s a control thing that I am working on being better about. I won’t say that is an easy fix.

As most of you notice my oldest daughter has returned to work, which means babysitting her two youngins falls to me. This hasn’t been an easy adjustment for me. They are both under the age of 5 and boys, so they are rowdy and everywhere.

The oldest likes to draw, paint, and be creative that way. Just ask my walls and furniture if I don’t manage to catch him in time. One of his favorite things to do is paint with Grandpa. While the hubby man does acrylic pouring the oldest gets his own canvas, paints and a brush to do his own art.

The youngest is the musically inclined one. He likes to listen to it and dance. We also pull out small toy pianos, a pan flute, ukelele and such. We’re working on rhythms, though there are times where it just becomes mashing keys on the piano and blowing one note. After all, he is two so discipline isn’t his strongest suit.

There are times when it can get overwhelming, but it is also so rewarding. The lack of writing can get to me. My biggest dream has always been to be an author. To tell stories that pull people along on amazing journeys. Often times, by the time I’m off work, I’m so exhausted working afterward just isn’t a thing.

It has left me in a bad place. I’ve been overly negative, ornery, and hard to deal with. I spend all my time complaining and not enough time looking at the positive. It’s horrible.

Needless to say, what you focus on, you will find. If you look toward the negative of everything, you certainly will find it. There is plenty there to see. However, if you switch to searching for the positive, you will find that as well. It won’t always be easy, but it is there.

I still needed to stop and look at the situation from a more positive mindset.

There are a ton of authors out there that work full-time jobs, raise a family and still find time to write. I am simply one of them now. My full-time job is watching my precious and mischevious grandchildren so my daughter can work, and that is okay.

It won’t stop me from writing. I don’t think there is anything that could, short of death. Telling stories, rather I write them down or not is something I’ve always done and always will do. I love it. It’s part of who I am. Like breathing stories just sort of occur for me.

There have been times we are driving down the road and something will happen, such as a slow driver or even a reckless one. In a matter of minutes, I have told the hubby man an entire story about the driver.

It is something that occurs organically for me. The way my brain works if you will.

So, if you find yourself in the same sort of situation where all you see is negative, try to look at a situation from a more positive aspect and see if you can’t find your light in it all.

I mean, after all, I get an opportunity so many don’t. I get to watch my grandbabies grow and help to mold them into amazing young men. There are some grandparents that don’t get to see their babies.

Until next time, remember to L.O.L. (Live it, Own it, Love it) or it isn’t worth doing.

  1. I miss my Daenerys. I understand doing things in order. Seems lately my order is so out of whack.
