The one thing I’m having to relearn how to do is take advantage of free times throughout my day. Honestly, I usually fill in the gap with useless things like YouTube videos. I’ve tried to take the time and spend it toward writing instead.
I know I need time to relax as well, but I work two jobs so I need to take the time to fill in the gaps to get my writing done each day. Some days it can take me a while to get settled down to work in my home office. Especially if my grandbabies come back in the room wanting to play or if Moose the ferocious needs some play time. After all, he is still a puppy and needs his energy spent much more than our older blue healer does.
I truly need to learn to have better time management and stop wasting so much time doing things that I don’t really need or want to do. It has become such a habit to simply flip on YouTube or jump on a game instead of filling in the space with things that would make me feel more productive.
I will be the first to admit that balance in my life is something I need to work hard on this year. Usually, I can spend hours in the back writing and I forget to take the time to spend with the family. It seems this time around it is quite the opposite. I spend time with everyone else and forget to do my writing.
It isn’t even like I’m not having a blast doing it. I can’t even explain how much fun I’ve had writing this book I’m currently working on. As soon as I removed all the pressure off myself at the end of last year, everything seems so much easier. Now, if only I would take the downtime and apply it to my work. I certainly think about it all day long.
I know I will get there, though. I’m too determined not to. So, here is to finding that balance and getting books written this year.
Until next time, remember to L.O.L. (Live it, Own it, Love it) or it isn’t worth doing.
